Fillings
Fillings
Our experts often use tooth-colored dental fillings to restore teeth with minor damage or decay. This type of treatment can be used to treat cavities and to correct other types of minor dental damage. Our practice offers tooth-colored composite fillings that look remarkably natural.
Fillings are more than just cosmetic fixes. They can effectively seal off any holes that are present on a tooth. If these holes are left untreated, then food particles and bacteria can potentially access the inside of the tooth and cause serious damage. Additionally, composite fillings are strong and durable. This is helpful for improving a tooth’s overall function and performance.
When providing a tooth-colored filling, we start by examining the injured tooth. Any decay and existing filling material will be carefully removed. The tooth will then be thoroughly cleaned to remove any tartar and plaque that is present. With the tooth cleaned out, we can then begin the process of applying the filling material and sealing the tooth.
The filling material will be applied over any openings or voids that are present in the tooth. This seals off the tooth and prevents unwanted matter from entering the inside and causing harm. The composite substance will then be given a chance to dry and harden. This will help the tooth achieve the necessary level of structure and strength. To finish, the restoration will be shaped and polished. The patient will be able to use the tooth normally immediately following treatment.
Our team would like to remind all patients that dental fillings are only capable of restoring teeth with minor damage or decay. Teeth that have experienced more extensive damage will need more advanced treatment. This type of treatment can include inlays, onlays, crowns and root canal treatment.
